Recovery of 553 Data Center Servers and Network Devices
This project covered the inventory, classification and recovery of 553 enterprise data center assets, including 334 servers, 129 switches and 90 firewalls and security appliances.
Professional IT asset recovery is not simply equipment removal. It requires a controlled workflow covering asset verification, data-bearing media management, testing, grading and reuse.
- Pre-project assessment: confirm the project scope, quantities, site conditions and transport requirements
- Inventory reconciliation: record models, quantities, visible condition and accessory completeness
- Data security: identify equipment containing hard drives or other storage media and follow the agreed retention, sanitization or downstream handling process
- Equipment classification: separate servers, switches, firewalls, rails and accessories to reduce handling and testing errors
- Controlled removal and logistics: dismantle, protect, load and transport equipment according to its weight and structure
- Inspection and grading: clean equipment, verify components and configurations, perform power-on testing and assign condition grades
- Refurbishment and remarketing: repair, configure and test reusable equipment for resale, while directing non-reusable assets to appropriate recycling channels
The recovered batch includes enterprise platforms from H3C, Inspur, Dell EMC and other vendors. After inventory verification, testing and grading, selected servers, switches and components will become available.
